Tower of war - sketch

I'm trying to work out if those things stiking out are dragon roosts or spears that have been thrown through it or to stop something from something I don't even know anymore.  I particularly like how the bckground is done, the birds and sky in particular, though I do like the trees as I'm a bit of a sucker for tree silhouettes
